Paul and the staff are dedicated to preserving both Marine and Land based environments. Paul has been a keen recycler of waste material for the last ten years, giving up a few hours a week to sort out, glass, paper, plastics and any material for recycling is in his opinion a price worth paying to avoid adding to landfill. The relevant professional body handles all organic waste. Wherever possible the restaurant uses ‘FairTrade’ products and actively source more and more ethically responsible goods whether it is sugar, tea or napkins and oil.
Fish ‘n’ Fritz has adhered to the sustainability codes of The Sea Fish Industry Authority, (Seafish) for over ten years. Seafish works across all sectors of the UK seafood industry to promote good quality, sustainable seafood. Not only does Fish ‘n’ Fritz support the aims of Seafish for a sustainable seafood industry in the 21st century but also Paul the owner is an assessor for the authority. Being an assessor means he is up to date with all the most recent developments in the industry, implements new quality standards and frequently undertakes professional development training.
Fish ‘n’ Fritz appreciate that we as a nation traditionally enjoy Cod and Plaice however in previous years both species were over fished to a point where their future was placed in doubt. Seafish brought in guidelines to protect the future of these stocks and now excessive fishing of one species is avoided. Fish ‘n’ Fritz supports the industry and is actively looking into a wider choice of white fish. Fish ‘n’ Fritz is an active member of Dorset Food Link and the restaurant is currently negotiating with local professional fisheries to widen its commitment to locally sourced produce, diners should take note of the Daily Specials board.
