
Fish ‘n’ Fritz has been owned and managed by the same husband and wife team from its opening in 1997, Paul and Julie Hay have built up a business that has become so much more than just a ‘chippy’.
Fish ‘n’ Fritz is now a well-established and very popular fish restaurant in Weymouth, at the very heart of Dorset’s Jurassic coast. We pride ourselves on the standards of our service as well as the quality and choice on the menu. The twenty plus staff team of chefs, fryers and those front of house are all trained with one focus, the excellence and delivery of YOUR FOOD. The restaurant is bright and airy with many visiting celebrities having signed photos decorating the walls, from the RolyPolys to Ronnie Corbett! Local and national newspapers are available daily for all diner’s.
Whether you are one of our regular local diner’s, a visiting holidaymaker or simply passing through WE KNOW you will be glad you found us. We were the national runner-up in the Fish & Chip Shop of the Year competition, and the regional winner for the southwest of the UK. As well as our renowned take-away service we also offer an accommodating 48 seat licensed restaurant, with full disabled access and an ever-evolving selection of dishes on the menu. We are proud to have an affiliation with Dorset’s ‘Piddle’ Beer and offer a range of local ales from the Brewery. All our food is freshly prepared, cooked to exacting standards and served by our happy friendly staff.

Fish n’Fritz has always gone to great lengths to source the finest and freshest ingredients and our very popular batter is a trade secret, a recipe developed and perfected by us over a long period of time. The Seafish Quality Award is only given to fish restaurants that have extremely high standards. Fish ‘n’ Fritz is proud to hold this award and therefore you can be well assured of being in good ‘accredited’ hands. All of the permanent restaurant staff are NVQ trained in food hygiene and handling, some with catering management certification experience. All of the permanent staff have First Aid qualifications.
The restaurant is a part of the Welcome Host scheme that means that all of the staff offer a polite and positive greeting with a very professional service. The restaurant has an ongoing relationship with the local training agency Paragon, and we train Catering Management trainees on site. We run an ongoing customer feedback survey and always action the points you raise- though it has to be said they are usually very positive, we shall always treat any suggestion from our diner’s seriously. Over 97% of customers surveyed stated that the food, the service and the quality of the food was excellent. The feedback forms also revealed thoughts on the menu- the chairs and the background music – all of which have been looked at and actioned.
